Among the green oasis under the rays of warm sunshine, the waters of the picturesque pond with a small mysterious island, arranged here at the very beginning of the park’s foundation, shimmer quietly and peacefully.

Before the creation of the park, its territory was a swampy area due to the confluence of the Salgir and Maly Salgir rivers. But even back then, local residents loved this beautiful area — the aristocrats of Akmecheti liked to organize hunting for ducks and other game here. Only in the 60s of the last century the city authorities decided to arrange a spacious park near railroad station.

Today Gagarin Park is not just the largest park on the territory of Crimea, it is one of the most favorite places of many residents of the city. A visit to Gagarin Park becomes a vacation not only for the body, but also for the soul — the picturesque area soothes, inspires, energizes and gives a wonderful mood.

In 1975, in honor of the 30th anniversary of the Great Victory in the park was reburied Unknown Soldier, and on his grave created a memorial complex with an eternal flame lit from torches delivered from the legendary mountains Mithridates and Sapun Mountain. Another 10 years later, the Alleys of Glory were created in Gagarin Park.

Everywhere in Gagarin Park you can see beautiful and interesting sculptures. One of the favorite ways to relax in the park is illustrated by a sculpture of a girl sitting in a clearing and reading a book. The triumph of beauty and freedom is reflected in the sculpture of three naked girls standing with their hands raised to the sky.
