Today, rest on the Arabatska Arrow is chosen by those tourists for whom, first of all, the beauty of nature, fresh air and warm sea are important, which warms up here already in May and does not cool down until late fall. This is a real paradise for travelers seeking to unite with nature and recovery, one of the best places in the south of the country, where you can really have a good rest. This attraction of Ukraine has gained fame among such tourists, and they, having been here at least once, necessarily recommend this place to all their relatives, to whom they sincerely wish health — this is the place where you can find it again.
Arabatskaya Spit or, as it is also called, arrow — is a sandy spit between the Sea of Azov, which washes its shores from the east, and the lake-liman Sivash, making its western coast white from salt deposits. The Spit begins in the north at the Tonky Strait near the town of Genichem and stretches 112 kilometers south to the Kerch Peninsula of Crimea — there is no other such long sandy spit anywhere in the world! In width in different sections it stretches from 270 meters to 8 kilometers, and territorially belongs to the Kherson region of Ukraine and the Kerch Peninsula of Crimea (the southeastern part is 65 km long).
On geographical maps Arabatskaya arrow began to be designated only since 1650, today on its upper third is already laid concrete road, but the road is small and does not violate the local unique microclimate — it is driven only by vacationers in their cars. The eastern coast of the arrow is sun-drenched sandy beaches with a gentle coast and clear shallow waters, already in June warming up to 30 degrees. Here it will be pleasant to rest even for those who can not swim, which makes the Arabatskaya spit especially popular among families with small children — only 100 meters from the shore begins the depth of 2m.
Scientists have managed to establish that this unique natural object was formed in the XII century, due to the sinking of the Sea of Azov and Sivash — so there was this long strip of land, now separating the sea from the emerged later another landmark of these lands — the lake-liman Sivash, or Rotten Sea, as it is also called. These are very young natural treasures, but this does not detract from their merits — together they form a unique microclimate, which has a positive effect on the health of people vacationing here.
Therapeutic factors, which are rich in the Arabatskaya Spit, include rapa and mud of Lake Sivash, hot springs of mineral waters, relatively recently discovered and making this place also a balneological resort (at the springs built specialized hospitals «Arabatskaya Strelka» and «Express»). Certainly, recreation near the Sea of Azov itself has a favorable effect on health — even just breathing here is very useful: the air saturated with bromine and iodine ions has a tremendous healing effect.
Such an abundance of therapeutic resources could not but lead to the emergence of many health centers on the Arabatskaya Spit, where today thousands of tourists from all over the country and abroad improve their health every year. Now this place has turned into a huge resort area, where you can live in modern hotels or in more wild conditions away from civilization in a tent — there is enough space on the spit for everyone, and rest here is possible for all tastes. Local health resorts treat diseases of the musculoskeletal apparatus, diseases of the nervous system, skin, gastrointestinal, gynecological and many other health problems, including chronic ones.
What else can offer tourists Arabatskaya strelka, in addition to beach recreation and recovery of the body? Everything you can wish for — in boarding houses and rest houses there are cafes, bars and restaurants, on equipped beaches you can rent a catamaran or other water transport, and on wild unequipped — enjoy the rest in complete isolation from civilization. Of course, from here you can go on excursions to the famous landmarks of Crimea, and some of them are located nearby. First of all, it is the Arabat fortress of the XVII century, in honor of which this strip of land was named (from the Arabic word «Rabat», which translates as «military post») — the only Tatar-Turkish fortress that survived on the shores of the Sea of Azov. Today it left only ruins, but the ruins are very picturesque, impressing all those who are not indifferent to historical sights. They are scattered on the territory near the village of Kamenskoye — the southern end of the Arabatska arrow. To see the evidence of the long history of these lands seek not only tourists staying directly on the spit, but also those who for the duration of the vacation chose a place of residence Genichesk city, villages Genicheskaya Gorka, Schastlivtsevo and Strelkovoye — it is a well-known landmark.
Wonderful climate, health resorts, beautiful nature, sea, interesting places and objects — all this attracts tourists from year to year, and many return here to rest again and again. Such it is, Arabatska arrow — charming and attracting all those who appreciate a truly quality vacation.
