Zhelezny Port is a small resort village on the very seashore in the southwest of the Kherson region in the Golopristansky district, where people have inhabited since time immemorial. On the territory of this area were found burial mounds of the Bronze Age, the remains of settlements of Scythian-Sarmatian times. The modern history of the village begins in 1922 — this year is considered the historical date of its foundation. As for the name, all versions of its origin agree in one: once there was a certain iron (in Ukrainian it sounds like «Zaliznyi») building in this settlement, because of which the village was called Iron or Zaliznyi port. According to one version it was a pier that went into the sea for 100 meters, according to another — a barn with an iron roof.
Today Zhelezny Port is, first of all, a famous resort, where tourists from all over the country and abroad come in summer. There is everything for even the most demanding tourist: 5 km of beaches with golden sand, the sea, a lot of cafes, restaurants and bars, health resorts that offer modern procedures to improve and strengthen health. While relaxing on the beaches, equipped with showers, sun beds and awnings, you can rent a catamaran, jet ski — there are a variety of water activities available here, up to the water park, where children and adults enjoy spending time, and various attractions.
