Skhodnitsa

Top Attractions
Location: in the Carpathians, 84 km to the east west of Lviv, Boryslav district.
How to Get There: The first option is to take shuttle buses from Lviv. The second option is by car. If you take the international highway M06 "Kyiv-Chop", then in Stryi at 73 km (from Lviv) you should turn right and drive 30 km to Drohobych, where you should turn left and drive 23 km through Boryslav to Skhidnytsya on the territorial highway T1415/T1402. Also from Lviv you can drive along the territorial highway T1416/T1402 through the town of Pustomyty. In this case the distance will be less (100 km), but the asphalt road surface is much worse.

Skhodnitsa

A vacation in the Carpathian Mountains is guaranteed to bring pleasure to those who travel to Western Ukraine. In addition to mesmerizing landscapes and charming «green estates», guests will be able to get tangible benefits from the local mineral waters, release adrenaline by working the ski slopes, as well as «dig up» a lot of interesting facts, getting acquainted with the history of the region.

One of such «multi-profile» resorts in Ukraine is Skhidnytsya. The village is located in the southern part of Lviv region, 10 km away from Boryslav and its railway station. This settlement is located in the so-called Skhidnytska depression, surrounded by low ridges of the Carpathians, which are just beginning to crumple into folds — the Oriev lowlands of the Skolevskie Beskid. The most notable in this company of newborn orcs are the Parashka, Lokot and Tsyuhiv Verkhny Mountains. Of these, only the height of Parashka exceeded 1000 meters. The Skhodnitskaya Depression is decorated by the Skhodnichanka River, which steadfastly carries its waters towards the Dniester.

Due to the location of this Ukrainian resort in the valley, a comfortable microclimate has been formed here. Winter is mild, as on the Atlantic coast of France, and summer is moderately warm, as in the British Isles, which makes vacation in Skhodnitsa suitable for guests with young children, for older adults and those who need to pay attention to the work of their heart and circulatory system. An additional argument in favor of rest in the Carpathians in this area, will be the presence in the neighborhood National Park «Skolevskie Beskidy», the village of Urych — the soul of reserve «Tustan» and 3 ski centers. To the elevators of Boryslaw from this Ukrainian resort you need to drive no more than 10 km, to the fireworks of skiing opportunities Slavskoe no more than 60 km, and to the young and daring resort «Tisovets» — about 65 km.

But this is not the main attraction of a vacation in Skhodnitsa, because there are enough beech and coniferous forested ridges, picturesque landscapes and National Parks in the Carpathians. But 38 springs and 17 additional wells for extraction of mineral water like «Naftusya», except Skhidnytsya, can boast only a few resorts in Ukraine. These waters are a powerful means of fighting with own kidney and liver diseases. They eliminate salt diathesis, normalize acidity in the stomach, fight with diabetes and anemia.

Most of the «liquid wealth» of this balneological resort of Ukraine is located within the village. Springs No. 1 and 3 are located in the forest area at the entrance to the village from the direction of Boryslav, No. 2 fountains near the bus station on Shevchenko Street. On the same street, only closer to the LOC «Di Anna», there are fountains No. 8,9 and 10. On Kotlyarevskogo street — #18, and on Khmelnitskogo street — #5. Other unnamed springs and wells are located on the territory of 4 sanatoriums, near which they were actually placed. The peculiarity of local private boarding houses is the possibility to get medical service in them, which distinguishes them favorably from hotels of other resorts of Ukraine. In addition to mineral water, on the territory of Skhidnytsya found reserves of peat mud, which are actively used for healing those who came on vacation in Skhidnytsya.

The history of the village is no less rich than the local natural resources. The date of its foundation is considered to be the XIV century. «Glorified» Skhidnitsa in the era of Bogdan Khmelnitsky, when local peasants, under the leadership of a certain Gebruh seized the feudal lord’s estate, took out all the property and burned the wooden Skhidnitsky castle. The period of calm and quiet was for this Ukrainian resort under the rule of the Austro-Hungarian Habsburgs. The village acquired a sawmill, a mill, a smithy, a distillery and two taverns. At the end of the XIX century oil fields were discovered in this region of the Carpathians, so 373(!) oil wells were drilled in Skhodnitsa, and the town became the leader of the whole Galicia in the production of «black gold», overtaking such famous Carpathian «Kuwaitis and Emirates» as Borislav and Dolina. Oil quickly ran out, but the glory of the favorite of Fortune Skhodnitsa returned to engineer E. Stotsky, who discovered in 1960 in Skhodnitsa Valley reserves mineral water type «Naftusya».

Thanks to engineer Stotsky, recreation in Skhodnica stopped being of interest only to loggers and oil magnates, and turned the village into one of the best places for vacation in the Carpathians. It took only one century to replace the dubious fame of the «oil Klondike» with the image of an ecologically seasoned, historically rich resort in Ukraine.
