This Primorskoe is one of three settlements Odessa region with this name. Primorske village was founded in the early XVIII century by fugitive Old Believers, when this region (it is called Budzhak region and is part of the larger Bessarabian region) was owned by the Turks, who patronized its settlement. They gave support and land to all refugees, and so gradually a settlement was formed here, which was called Zhebriany (it was renamed Primorskoe after the Second World War). As for the original name of the village, there are 2 versions: according to one, it is formed from the Turkish name Ajibrail, but the second one is much funnier — so in Turkish sounded the phrase «beggar Ivan». Over time, initially very secluded and detached from the worldly bustle place turned into one of the popular resort regions of the south of Ukraine, but something of the original atmosphere still remains — calmness, measuredness: there is no bustle, inherent in many other Black Sea resorts.
