View of Miskhor from the side of Ai-PetriNot far from the most famous Crimean city, at the foot of the picturesque mountain range Ai-Petri is located the amazing village of Miskhor, a quiet oasis among the popular vacation spots of Big Yalta. Here stop all tourists who want to spend time quietly, without excessive noise and bustle. Today rest in Miskhor attracts everyone who comes to Crimea to relax alone with the beautiful nature, swim and bask in the warm sun.

Formally there is no such town as Miskhor, and the fact that it does not even exist, adds to it even more charm in the eyes of tourists. The fact is that only until 1958 it was a separate settlement, and then became part of the village Koreiz, one of the resort areas of Big Yalta.

Miskhor is located at a distance of 12 km from Yalta between Cape Ai-Todor and Livadia — it is a coastal strip of about 10 km with clean and picturesque pebble beaches. From ancient Greek its name translates as «middle terrain», and the first written mention of it can be found in the notes of P.S. Pallas, who traveled through the Crimea in 1793-1794 years.

view of Ai-PetriWith the growth of Yalta’s fame as a beautiful resort, Miskhor, which was considered from the very beginning a privileged resort area, disposed to a quieter and more peaceful rest, became famous. In the XVIII-XIX centuries, objects appeared here, which have now become pearls among the attractions of the Crimean South Coast: at the end of the XVIII century Miskhor Park was laid out, and in the next century the Dulber Palace was built.

In Miskhora Park, which is now a monument of garden and park art, there are plants exotic for these places: Arizona cypress, bamboo, palm trees, oleander, Coultera and Allep pines, as well as familiar but no less beautiful forest species — pistachio, Crimean pine, oak. In total, you can see more than 100 species of shrubs and trees, and in general, the territory of the park covers an area of 21.3 hectares. To walk around this picturesque place, tourists come here from all corners of Big Yalta, and vacationers here have the opportunity to enjoy its beauty constantly, staying in the sanatorium «Miskhor», located in the park area.

fountain of the palace and park ensemble DulberAnother attraction of Miskhor is the palace and park ensemble Dulber, which was built in 1895-1897 by architect N. Krasnov for Grand Duke P.N. Romanov (uncle of Nicholas II). This amazing building, erected in romantic Moorish style, impresses and inspires everyone who sees it, which confirms even its very name, which from Crimean Tatar translates as «charming, beautiful». The beauty and interesting history of this landmark, associated with the rescue of representatives of the Romanov dynasty, makes it one of the most visited by tourists who are fond of original architecture and interesting historical events.

Miskhor is one of the most famous resorts of Big Yalta, also due to the fact that it is notable not only because of the picturesque park and the beautiful palace. In the second half of the XX century here appeared another attraction that made this place famous. In 1967-1987 there was built a ropeway of almost 3 kilometers long, leading from the forest to the top of the Ai-Petri massif. Tourists from all over the country come here to take a ride on this road — such a breathtaking journey is memorable for a long time, allowing you to see the vast panorama of the South Coast. Going up in a passenger cabin, which overcomes the whole way in 20 minutes, passengers admire the natural pictures of amazing beauty: majestic mountains, gorges and mysterious caves on the slopes of the mountain massif. Interestingly, this cable car is known throughout Europe as the second cable car with the longest unsupported span after one of the German cable cars.

Here you can see the Crimean nature in all its glory, harmoniously complemented by man-made attractions — this combination makes Miskhor a place truly unique, so it is definitely worth visiting, so that you can remember your holiday in the Crimea.
