The history of the Kiev region is well known to many people since school. Kiev is the mother of Russian cities, and the Kiev region is the cradle of Slavic civilization, which thrives to this day.
The territory of the region was inhabited by the most ancient peoples 20 thousand years ago, in different periods here prevailed Tripolitans, Antes, Scythians, Goths — traces of settlements of these peoples have reached our time. Now on the territory of the region there are a lot of burial mounds and hill forts, which are the most interesting attractions of Kyiv region, the most important archaeological sites.

Undoubtedly, a great tragedy for the region, as well as for the whole state, was the Tatar-Mongol yoke. During this period, many of the oldest settlements were wiped off the face of the earth, mention of them remained only in chronicles, the region lost many attractions, and people were forced to move to northeastern Russia and other nearby territories.
After leaving the Golden Horde, Kievshchina passed into the possession of Lithuania, then in the XVI century — Poland, in the middle of the XVII century it became a part of Russia. As a result, ancient palaces, parks, manors of representatives of different cultures who lived here at different times have been preserved on the territory of the region. These are the manor of railroad magnates von Meckow (the beginning of the XIX century), the manor Sofiyivka (the end of the XVIII century), the manor of Polish magnates Brannitsky (the beginning of the XIX century) and the adjacent arboretum «Alexandria», the palace of Polish noblemen Hoyetsky (the beginning of the XIX century) and many others. In total, there are more than 6 thousand historical monuments on the territory of the Kiev region.
It is impossible to ignore the reserves, which are rich in this region: historical and ethnographic reserve «Pereyaslavl», reserve in the city of Vyshgorod, tract «Palievaya Gora» and others. The sights of Kyivshchyna are really diverse, they include whole cities and towns that have survived since the X-XVI centuries: the infamous city of Chernobyl (founded in the early XII century), Fastov (XIV century), Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyi (X century) — the oldest city in the region and others.
