Today holiday on Belosarayskaya Kos is becoming increasingly popular among those who want to forget for a while about cities, their hustle and bustle, dust and noise — it is a quiet, peaceful, secluded place surrounded by untouched nature. An additional factor of attractiveness of this corner of the south-east of Ukraine is the magnificent natural sights of Belosarayskaya Kos, which for connoisseurs of the beauty of nature become a real inspiration. People come here for rest in its true sense, and what it is, becomes clear immediately upon arrival — just take a breath of fresh air and take a look at the opening panoramas.
The village of Belosarayskaya Kosa is located in the south-west of Donetsk region in an ecologically clean area. There are no factories, plants, highways — only nature and small one-, two- and three-story houses. Some of them are private, some of them are recreation centers and boarding houses, in total there are about 80 recreation facilities accommodating up to 20 thousand people at a time. Even if we add to this number the local population — about a thousand people, it still turns out a little by today’s standards, that is, the rest here is really measured and quiet, there is an atmosphere of closeness to nature, unity with it, which always energizes a person, health and strength. However, Belosarayskaya Kosa was not always such a quiet and peaceful place.
The settlement on the land, where the village stretches today, existed in the times of Kievan Rus. It was a well-developed and famous city of Belgorod at that time. In the XIII century, the Tatar-Mongols came here, captured it, renamed it Belosarai and turned it into one of their strategically important centers — here they conducted trade with the Genoese and Venetians. By the way, the invaders gave such an interesting name to the city because the houses of the locals were painted with white clay on the outside (in fact, Belosaray is the same as Belgorod in Russian). When trade subsided, Belosaray began to gradually turn into a small village, losing its importance.
The new life of the village began with the arrival of Greeks from Crimea to the Azov region — this explains the neighborhood of Belosarayskaya Kos with Yalta, Urzuf and other familiar to many objects — the names of these settlements Greeks brought with them from the Crimea. So began the modern history of the village, which has been living a quiet provincial life ever since.
All recreation facilities are located 20-100 meters from the sea, and Belosarayskaya Spit itself — a sandy spit, 14 km into the sea, is part of the regional landscape park «Meotida» and is a reserve of national importance. For tourists it means that they have a unique opportunity to spend their vacation on Belosarayskaya Spit in close proximity to the untouched protected nature, to get acquainted with the rich flora and fauna, in which there are many rare and endangered species of animals and plants.
Natural sights of Belosarayskaya Kos, clean warm and shallow Azov Sea, air filled with the aromas of the sea and herbs, modern level of service in small holiday homes — all this makes rest here an ideal option for family, recuperating or secluded vacation.
