The sights of the Arabatska Arrow are radically different from the recreational treasures of the South Coast of Crimea. Typical for the South Coast of Crimea chic embankments, botanical gardens and numerous restaurants in oriental style here replace mineral water springs and thermal baths. Entertainment, of course, specific, but very useful. Besides, guests of the Arabatskaya Spit and its main «resorts» — Schastlivtsevo and Strelkovoye, get unlimited access to the waters of the always warm Azov Sea and the local sandy beach, the length of which is equal to one hundred kilometers.
The basis of balneological opportunities of the village of Schastlivtsevo — the so-called spring number 25, which produces hot, highly mineralized water. It was found absolutely by accident — during the geological exploration of gas-bearing layers, when instead of the desired ether, thermal water was used.
In the same miraculous way on Arabatskaya strelka was received Salt Lake. In that place, where today there is a mini water reservoir, there used to be a gas tower. Who does not know, it is a huge metal structure, the height of which is equal to 20 meters. Due to the accumulation and untimely pumping of natural gas in this place there was an underground explosion. Naturally, a crater was formed after that. Its diameter does not exceed 100 meters. It has an almost perfect rounded shape and is filled with water similar to that erupting from source No. 25.
The two bodies of water are believed to be filled with liquid from a common underground reservoir. Tourists enjoy taking healing baths in the Salt Lake. By the way, its shore is surrounded by a ring of green grass, so this section of the Arabatska arrow looks like an oasis with date palms and a spring in the middle of the Sahara desert.
The wonderful lake, formed in the wake of a man-made disaster, is located at a distance of 43 km from Genichesk, between the village of Strelkovoy and a commercial ostrich farm. Public transportation does not go to it, but this does not stop those wishing to relax on the shore of the main «Arabat oasis».
Behind the Salt Lake is ostrich farm, where ostriches are bred and sold, as well as all related products — eggs, feather, skin, meat and young of these beautiful animals. This is where the strelkovoe sights end. Then follows an infinitely long strip of beach, bounded by the waters of the Azov and Rotten Sea (Sivash). Rest on the Arabatskaya strelka is atypical. It differs significantly from what the spoiled domestic tourist is used to. But it is this form of recreation, multiplied by a balneological resource, every year is interested in more and more people who want a quiet vacation in the bosom of peaceful Crimean nature.
