The Crimean peninsula is like a chest of the legendary Gobsek, which is filled to the top with all kinds of treasures. A special concentration of precious sights, mostly of natural origin, is observed in the area of the village of Perevalnoye. Firstly, literally next door to it is located Angarsky Pass, which is the highest point of the main «trans-Crimean highway» — from Simferopol to Alushta, and a reference point for those who are going to make an ascent to Chatyr-Dag, have a rest on the Beech Glade or test themselves in the art of orienteering.
Secondly, on the other side of the Angarsk pass, from the village of Perevalnoye, begins the ascent to one of the most interesting parts of the Main Ridge of the Crimean Mountains — the Dolgorukinskaya yaila. And thirdly, it is here, on the western slope of the yaila, 3.49 km from Perevalny, is one of the most unpredictable and mysterious caves of the peninsula — Kyzyl-Koba or «Red Cave». Speleologists have discovered 6 levels in it, which are connected by passages and siphons, but only one single, dosiphon gallery of the cave is open for visitors. The Kyzylkobinka river flows through it, shimmering under the light of lamps, bursts out of the underground dungeon to the surface and turns into a marvelous waterfall Su-Uchkhan.
The flow of water of Kyzylkobinka is so tired of looping through the galleries of the mother cave that breaking out into the sunlight, it literally rushes down from the limestone ledge of Bazar-Oba, composed of sedimentary rocks taken out of the cave. A characteristic feature of Su-Uchkhan is its multistage. If Niagara Falls and Victoria Falls fall their waters in a single mass, the Crimean waterfall is divided into several stages, just like Uchan-Su, the highest object of this kind in Ukraine. But, the total height of Su-Uchkhan, unlike its titled colleagues, is only (!) 25 meters, which allows you to compare it only with the height of an eight-story house, if somewhere such existed.
Due to its multi-stage nature, the former prisoner of the Kyzyl-Koba cave has an extremely picturesque view. In addition, huge stones divided its flow into many jets of different power and width. In the rock Bazar-Oba spring waters dug a scour hole, so it formed a kind of grotto. Once in it, tourists can admire the play of splashes of Su-Uchkhan in the sunlight, as well as get cool photos, not inferior to those that bring tourists on vacation from the islands of Thailand, the beaches of Greece or the shores of Italy.
With his many years of specialty «water sharpens stone» Su-Uchang carved a shallow niche in the place where he fell from the cliff. Due to the high iron content in the Kyzylkobinka water, the limestone rocks around the niche have acquired a pleasant terracotta color, similar to the tinting of ancient Greek amphorae. The shade of the rocks is emphasized by the moss, lush green in color, growing in abundance on the waterfall-watered areas of limestone. Like all permanent watercourses of Crimea, the most powerful water flow is recorded in May-June — at this time the snow melts on Dolgorukinskaya yaila.
The guest of the peninsula can enrich his holiday in Crimea by staying at Angarsky pass and making a small hike from the village of Privalnoye to Kyzyl-Koba cave. By the way, a kilometer away from the waterfall is a private zoo and equipped with a platform for the most comfortable pastime of tourists who chose to travel to one of the best regions of Ukraine!
