The history of the Church of the Intercession of the Mother of God dates back to January 1819. It was then, on Christmas Eve, the Land Court of Feodosia received a paper on which was carefully drawn out the plan of the future church. On the same day, all the necessary documents were signed, and the landowners of Sudak amicably undertook the erection of the church. The most interesting thing that the construction of the church then the authorities did not give a penny — all the money was collected through voluntary donations from the population of the city. However, the future temple was donated not only material means. The merchant Yani Lazarev, who passed away in 1814, wrote in his will that his amazing vineyards and a cottage in Taraktash should also go to the future church after his death.
Up to 1936 in the Church of the Protection of the Most Holy Mother of God services were held, baptisms, weddings and church songs were sung. Poor people stood on the porch and traditionally appealed to the parishioners to help the destitute. In 1936, the authorities decided to organize a pioneer club in the former church, which had absolutely no need for the church bell tower. In a matter of hours, the majestic structure was simply leveled to the ground. The Almighty, apparently, did not forgive people for such barbarism: the Pioneer Club was not destined to open its doors to Soviet schoolchildren, for soon the unforgettable Great Patriotic War began.
Those who studied history at school do not need to remind that the Germans occupied Crimea and, 
to please the Crimeans, often restored and opened Orthodox churches. Sudak The Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary was no exception — to the delight of the residents of the city services in the temple resumed again.
Sudak was liberated from the Nazis in 1944. And suddenly it turned out that the temple is not registered, and the priest in it is not. The church, which had suffered in its lifetime, was again boarded up. Residents of Sudak were able to get to the Temple of God only a year later. It would seem that the life path of this church from now on should have been bright and cloudless, and all the vicissitudes and suffering — forever fade into oblivion. But no! In 1962 the doors of the church were slammed shut again. The authorities remembered the failed Palace of Pioneers and decided to realize a brilliant in their opinion idea.
So the premises of this brightest attraction of the Crimea was transferred to the disposal of the secondary school. After the Palace of 
pioneers, the church was used as a workshop for television sets. Perhaps, nothing more ridiculous and at the same time sad, you can’t think of. The authorities came to their senses only in the early nineties: the Church of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary was finally handed over to the caring hands of the Orthodox Church, and under the painted dome again sounded and flowed like spring brooks, pure and forgiving prayers.
A stunning view of this architectural miracle, created by the duo of God and man, opens from the Livadia slopes. Here it is — this neat vertical pencil, modestly and at the same time majestically sticking out on the edge of the cape and from afar resembling a miniature Georgian church. However, this resemblance is not accidental, because this attractions of Ukraine is made in the Georgian-Byzantine style: four majestic columns, triangular pediments, mosaic images… No curls, decorations and frills — naked and unconcealed simplicity. However, perhaps, it is in it that lies the alluring charm of this Sudak beauty.
