Creative Association «Dzyga» is an organization of artists, public figures, entrepreneurs in the form of association of various cultural and creative projects and objects (clubs, festivals, media projects, etc.). It was founded in 1993 as a result of uniting the environment of public figures of the student movement of the period of Ukraine’s independence («Student Brotherhood» 1989-1993), the environment of avant-garde art («The Way» 1989-1992) and musicians of the underground of Lviv at that time («Tea Lovers Club», «Dead Cock», underground festival «VyVyh»).
In the assets of the association the most uncompromising and accordingly the most productive projects are: «Underground Festival «VyVih», festivals «Freedom of Choice», «UMH — 93», «Jazz Bez», «Flugers of Lviv», «Metro Jazz», «Pink Slow», «Project E», «New Noah’s Ark», club «Lyalka», «Listen Ukrainian», founding and producing alternative radio station «Radio Iniciatyva 102.5 FM», opposition newspaper «Lvivska Gazeta», literary magazine «Thursday»,
Week of Actual Art «7», Days of Performance in Lviv, international project » L ² » (Lviv — Lublin) and many other smaller projects.
Summarizing the quantitative results for its 15th anniversary in 2008, «Dzyga» got the following statistical figures: 394 exhibitions, 1223 club concerts, 119 exclusive concert projects, 26 festivals, 117 performances, 360 literary presentations and many other extraordinary attractions, which gathered more than 1.5 million participants, visitors and spectators. The ideological, physical, and material center of Dzyga is its gallery in Lviv at 35 Armyanska Street.
