Stryjski Park is considered one of the most beautiful parks not only in Lviv, but also in Ukraine. With well-developed flora and picturesque kraevids, it is one of the most favorite recreation places of Lviv citizens and guests of the city. The park is famous for its rich collection of valuable and rare trees. Plants of more than 260 species grow here.
The park was designed by the famous gardener and architect Arnold Rehring in 1876-1877 on the territory of the former Stryi cemetery. It consists of three parts: the lower parterre zone, the forest park zone and the upper terrace. The main entrance to Stryjski Park welcomes visitors with a majestic arch, created in 1952. A little further on you can see a marvelous small lake where swans live. This picturesque place beckons children, adults and especially lovers. On weekends on its shores you can observe a huge number of newlyweds.

In 1961, on the centenary of T. Shevchenko’s funeral, a sprig of Shevchenko’s willow was planted near the lake on Chernecha Hill.
In the center of the lower parterre, not far from the lake, in 1894 a monument to the national hero of Poland Jan Kilinski, the leader of the 1794 uprising in Warsaw, was erected.
Stryjski Park is closely connected with the soccer events of the city. It was here on July 14, 1894 that the first soccer match on Ukrainian lands was played. To the 110th anniversary of this event, in the fall of 2004, a monument was unveiled at this place.
In the southern part there is a children’s railroad, opened after the Second World War.
Walking along the paths of Stryjski Park, you will have a great time and relax from everyday hustle and bustle.
