For many centuries Lviv has been delighting its residents and guests with a unique aura flavored with coffee and chocolate. Exquisite Lviv sweets have a long history — Lviv residents discovered chocolate in the Middle Ages. Since then oriental sweets and French desserts appeared in Lviv. Then local master bakers and confectioners began to make various sweet delicacies themselves. At the beginning of the twentieth century, almost every house on the present-day Svobody and Shevchenko avenues had a pastry shop (tsukerny). At the same time Lviv became, after Swiss Bern, the second European capital of chocolate.
What can compete for the love of Lviv citizens more than His Majesty Chocolate? In Lviv chocolate is eaten, drunk, given, proud, enjoyed, admired, fantasized with, visited, confessed in love, made serious life decisions. And only in Lviv — the sweetest city in Ukraine, chocolate is called especially — «chokolyada». 
Lvivians even invented their own freely convertible currency — if you want to thank someone, you say: «I owe you chokolyada».
At Chocolate Festival you can expect: creating and eating the longest chocolate cake, master classes on making chocolate products, splashing chocolate fountains, contests, fun, candy balloon, entertainment for children and adults, performances of musical groups and theater groups. There will be an improvised chocolate factory where confectioners will demonstrate the process of making chocolate sweets before your eyes.
