The Ascension is one of the oldest and most picturesque sites, which is located in the north — eastern part of Lviv. Named in honor of the Christian holiday of Ascension, this land conceals the secrets of many eras. The green hills of Ascension together with High Castle form the silhouette of the city, known since the engravings of the XVI century. The magnificent panorama of Lvov and its surroundings unfolds from here.
Despite the constant encroachment of the city, at its very center has preserved a unique landscape, nature, history, culture.

A 20-minute walk from City Hall features rare prairie vegetation, sandstone and limestone with fossilized remains, forested hills, and picturesque valleys with ponds and streams. All this is complemented by traces of ancient Russian settlements, shops and monasteries, an old cemetery, a museum of folk architecture and traditional low-rise buildings.
The creation in 1993 of the regional landscape park «Ascension» with the area of 312 hectares on a part of this territory gave a unique opportunity to combine the typical for urban parks function of recreation with tourism, as well as with the protection and study of natural-historical environment.
