How pleasant it is to drink a mug of cold beer on a hot summer day! Probably each of us at least once in our lives has known this pleasure. Well, if you are a real connoisseur of this hoppy drink, you will certainly be interested to learn more about it and get acquainted with the history of brewing. And it is best to do it in Lviv, because this ancient city is not only rich in various sights, it is also rightfully considered the capital of Ukrainian beer. Probably that’s why the first in Ukraine Beer Museum was opened here on the territory of the brewery in 2005.

The traditions of Lviv brewing are not much younger than the city itself, the first mention of them dates back to 1384. At that time a certain Ganko Klepper bought a beer brewery here. Hence the name of the area — Kleparov.

In 1715 the legendary Lviv brewery was opened here. Centuries passed, authorities changed, the city was a part of many states, only the excellent quality and unique flavor of Lviv beer remained unchanged. These distinctive features contributed to the growth of its popularity from year to year.

And now, thanks to the founders of the Museum of Beer, everyone has the opportunity to make a fascinating journey into the past, to hear entertaining stories and legends about the origin and production of this hoppy drink.
The museum exposition is located in the semi-basement of the brewery and occupies 600 square meters. Among the many museum exhibits you will undoubtedly be amazed and interested in the rich collection of old beer glasses, unusual bottles and beer kegs.

One of the halls of the beer restaurant It is interesting that already in the distant past the culture of drinking this drink was quite developed. You only think about it, maybe earlier from these antique souvenirs drank beer kings, ambassadors of great powers and other noble people of the city. It is worth noting the fact that even monks were engaged in brewing beer, which is confirmed in a separate museum composition.

Another interesting and undoubtedly valuable exhibit is the brewer’s certificate, which was written out by the Lviv magistrate. And the visitors are familiarized with the technology of brewing process by the «Technological Book», which was kept from 1931 to 1936.

Besides visiting the expositions everyone can taste various kinds of beer and even watch an interesting movie about «Lviv Brewery». Well, and after a long but fascinating and informative visit to the museum you can relax and unwind in the beer restaurant «Robert Doms’ Hop House».
