You can get into the world of childhood and plunge into the magical fairy-tale atmosphere at the festival «Puppet World», which takes place in the second half of September in Lviv and gathers in the Palace of Arts puppeteers from many parts of Ukraine and connoisseurs of hand-made toys.
The project «Lady & Teddy» shows several hundred handmade unique toys, which do not leave indifferent both children and adults.
Festival «Puppet World» is held in Lviv for the fifth time. It is a kind of forum of puppeteers, which annually gives participants the opportunity to exchange experience, offers to learn new techniques of doll making at master classes and invites everyone to the real fairy tale. Here you can see princesses and wizards, amazing bears, heroes of various fairy tales and the cartoon «Hedgehog in the Fog».
The toys are made of porcelain, textiles — so-called tilde dolls crocheted from wool. The exposition of real «porcelain ladies» is complemented by Teddy bears, which even settled here on paintings.
The organizer, the author of the idea of the festival Irina Sorokina says: «The festival takes place for the fifth year in a row. It is a small anniversary, the first round date. The authors each time provide new works. This year there are quite a lot of articulated dolls. If earlier there were one or two of them, this year there are about ten of them on the exposition. This year the festival really has a «lady» format — most of the dolls are girls, fairies, princesses. The vast majority are positive dolls that are pleasing to the eye.»
She noted that 54 puppeteers brought their works to the V Festival «Puppet World». Each author has the right to present from three to 15 works. «Every year the number of participants is 50-60 people.
Since the time when the festival was divided into two parts — «Etnokuklu» and «Lady&Teddy», the number of participants has not changed. That is, every year more than 100 people join the puppet culture», — adds Irina Sorokina.
At the opening of the festival art historian Orest Golubets notes: «It is pleasant that the puppet festival has become in Lviv a notable event. Almost all the puppets are good. You will not find negative characters there. Dolls connect us with the world of childhood. Childhood always haunts us, it is with us until our last breath on this earth. And perhaps that’s what makes a person kinder. Such festivals make for visitors a tsunami of positive emotions».
