Not a single report about paragliding competitions can do without mentioning world-famous Klemukha. However, Klemukha is for relatives and friends, and tourists and travelers call it respectfully — Mount Klementieva. Uzun-Syrt — and that’s how the original name of this favorite elevation for paragliders sounds — is somewhere in the middle between the Land of Cognacs and Feodosia. But not only that! It is on the Klementieva mountain that the middle of our globe — the forty-fifth parallel — passes. However, we have nowhere to hurry, so let’s talk about everything in turn.
Those who once visited the top of Mount Klementieff knows that it is not just a mountain — it is a meeting place of two elements beyond human control — sky and mountains. Winds blow here without stopping, thanks to which Mount Klementieva has become a paradise place for those who are in love with soaring flights above the ground. Now you understand why Uzun-Syrt has long been called the cradle of domestic hang gliding. They found their cozy corner on the mountain Klementieva and graund-lonchers. This incomprehensible for the Russian ear word is called lovers of rapid descent from the mountain with the help of already opened parachutes. In general, in the summer time of the year athletes on Klemukha not to count!
If you also wish to join their «sandbox», welcome to the mountain Klementieva! What? You don’t know anything about paragliding? Don’t worry, for those who usually hang out on Klemukha, it’s not a question.
The thing is that in this place gather professionals of high class, who can teach to fly even on what should not fly at all.
The modern relief of this «flying» attraction of the Crimea was finally formed just a few millennia ago. Klementieva Mountain came into this world thanks to two destructive processes — faults and erosions, which still raged on this land relatively recently. From the inside, Uzun-Syrt looks exactly like a layer cake. Among the ingredients of this «cake» are limestone and marl. By the way, it is marl — something between limestone and clay, thanks to its property of easy weathering, that gave Klementiev Mountain such an unusual stoloid shape.
Koktebel is a magical place, and it has a magical name. Some come to this cognac valley to look into the sad eyes of Chameleon Cape, which the sea is gradually dragging into its abyss. Others — to enjoy the view of the sunset, disappearing behind Mount Karadag. The third — to dance to the sounds of Koktebel jazz with a glass of aromatic wine in their hands. The fourth — to make sure that rest in Koktebel is much more beautiful than their friends told them, and the fifth — to gain what a person cannot gain — wings. That is why the Land of Blue Peaks is called a magical place …
Remember, at the very beginning of our story we said that Mount Klementieff is known all over the world? The fact is that not so long ago a special sign was installed on Klemukh. This sign informs all who come here that exactly here is the Golden Mean of the Earth — the forty-fifth parallel. Agree, it is quite unusual to stand in this place and realize that you are now at an equal distance from the equator and from the North Pole. Those who know this world say that the forty-fifth parallel is a place of incredible energy power. Well, it is not accepted to be surprised in Koktebel, because everything is possible in this magical place.
It only remains to add that it is from the mountain Klimentiev that the ascent of such famous aircraft designers as Oleg Konstantinovich Antonov and Sergey Vladimirovich Ilyushin began. Who knows, maybe from the top of this attraction of Ukraine your star path will begin…
