The House-Museum of M.A. Voloshin is one of the most visited literary and art museums in Crimea. Maximilian Alexandrovich Voloshin is an outstanding poet and artist, a brilliant thinker, philosopher and critic, who left a great trace in the literature and fine arts of the early XX century. His paintings were always recognized by art connoisseurs, and his literary works stirred the strings of the soul of even the most demanding and sophisticated connoisseurs of literature.
The house, which today houses the memorial museum of the poet, was built in 1903 under the guidance and according to the drawings of Voloshin himself. Its architecture reflects the broad views and unconventional thinking of the writer — it is a beautiful, unusual building of asymmetrical shape with many interesting architectural elements. The two-storied building is two seemingly separate structures, united into one whole by a complex of balconies and a spacious open-air gallery, rising above both parts of the building.
On the left side it is almost an ordinary country house with white walls and a balcony, and the right part of the house built of yellow-orange bricks with a protruding trihedral trapezoidal wall with high windows on the second floor creates an impression that the poet expressed his commitment to high tastes, paid tribute to the era of romanticism. The right side of the house resembles a fragment of a palace or an ancient castle, and this detail makes the construction very unusual and memorable.

Everything in Voloshin’s house has been preserved as it was during the poet’s lifetime. Every object lies in the place that the owner defined for it. The interiors of more than 100 years old have been preserved, which is of great interest not only for fans of Voloshin’s work, but for all connoisseurs of antiquity. These are exclusive pieces of furniture decorated with inlay, painting, burning, for example, a desk for A.N. Tolstoy, made by the poet himself.
