«The country of blue peaks», which was captured in his song «Fairy» by Boris Grebenshchikov, is a favorite place of foreign and domestic travelers not so much due to its serene beaches, but due to the fabulous positive atmosphere, which is saturated with Koktebel air. And what do you associate Koktebel with? For sure, it is Maximilian Voloshin, whose grave is located in these parts, JazzKoktebel festival, which annually gathers dozens of talented musicians and hundreds of their fans, and, of course, cognac — the namesake of the village.
The world-famous vineyard-wine-making enterprise «Koktebel», which is now commonly called the factory of vintage wines and cognacs, was founded on this land in 1944. Plant «Koktebel» became a kind of alternative, which was designed to replace the existing before the Great Patriotic War branch of the state farm «Sudak». The highlight of the winery «Koktebel» is that this enterprise is one of the few that has a hundred percent complete cycle of production. This means that the factory of vintage wines and cognacs named after the village grows grapes, processes them, ages the aromatic wines in oak barrels, and only after that bottles them.
The plant «Koktebel» can rightfully be considered a rare gem of winemaking, because it is one of the most powerful madera shops in Europe. It begins with a greenhouse, in which, like a fairy-tale flower, the world-famous Koktebel madera matures.
A year passes and the young wine becomes a «resident» of the open area, where barrels filled with «truth» are kept under warm sunlight for three more years.
Rest in Koktebel is impossible without a tour of the factory of vintage wines and brandies, because only there you can taste Koktebel, feel its aroma and fully enjoy the portion of warmth that will spread over your body after a heady sip. It is interesting that at the Koktebel plant vineyards are located at different heights above sea level — some a little higher, others a little lower, and others somewhere in the middle. Thanks to this, the wine obtained from the fruit of the vine is endowed with absolutely unique taste and aromatic properties. You will never find anything like it anywhere else.
On the territory of this attraction of Ukraine there is something ancient and elusive. Probably, it is the ancient traditions that have survived to this day. Despite the fact that the plant «Koktebel» is a modern enterprise, to which nothing progressive is alien, traditions are especially honored and appreciated here. However, it is not surprising if we remember that it was in Koktebel that Crimean winemaking was destined to be born.
Today the factory «Koktebel» produces a huge amount of the most diverse wines, starting from thin dry wines and finishing with full-bodied strong and dessert wines. However, not even wine is the pride of this attraction of Crimea. Cognac — that’s the Koktebel brewery’s specialty! The production of the best Crimean cognacs began in Koktebel somewhere in the middle of the last century. However, to this day the classical traditions in this business remain unshakable postulates.
Well, we must admit that classics are always popular, be it classics in clothes, classics in literature or cognac classics. Therefore, going to leave Koktebel smelling of sage and sea, do not forget to take with you a classic Koktebel alcoholic «bouquet», which will warm you in winter evenings and indulge in memories of unforgettable days spent at the foot of the ancient Kara-Dag.
