The Church of St. Theodore Theodore Tyrone is one of the oldest churches in Yalta.
In ancient times the Greeks who lived in Upper Outka built the church. But after their resettlement in Mariupol, it was abandoned, dilapidated and destroyed. In 1778, returning to their homeland, the Greeks restored the church. It was built at public expense and consecrated on November 30, 1842 in the name of the Great Martyr Theodore Tiron.
By the end of the twentieth century, the wooden church became too small for the increased population of Upper Autka. In 1898 the old church was dismantled and a new one was built. The church was built in the Byzantine style.

Active participation in the construction of the church, located near the writer’s house, was taken by A.P. Chekhov, who personally negotiated with Archbishop Dmitry. In May 1901 in the church of St. Theodore Tyrone Chekhov married actress Olga Leonardovna Knipper.
In the summer of 2002 a miracle happened in the temple. At the beginning of the summer the temple was decorated with lilies, which eventually dried up. But on the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, one of the dry branches blossomed.
