The Old CellarWinemaking is the most important part of the history of the Beregovo region. All the rulers who owned these territories constantly supported and stimulated the development of this challenging and amazing art. At all times Berehiv wines were famous for their unsurpassed quality, skillfully selected bouquets, and pleasant taste. Today the guests of the town can appreciate the real Beregovo wines in the unique tasting room — «Old cellar», which is also one of the most famous attractions of Beregovo.

Many centuries ago the northern borders of the Roman Empire passed along the mountain where the Old Cellar is located, and grapes have been grown on the slopes of the high mountains around Berehovo since time immemorial. For storage and production of good wine the owners of vine plantations dug special cellars right in these mountains, more precisely, such a difficult job had to be done by the Turks captured during the battles, with a pickaxe they dug out entire vaults for one of the main treasures of the region — wine.

The history of the Old Cellar is no exception — it is one of the few wine cellars that have survived since the XVII century. The traces of the pickaxe are still visible on its walls, covered with the gunpowder of centuries and noble platinum. This cave is more than 300 years old, The Old Cellarwhich in all its visitors evokes unusual and romantic associations that arise only in such ancient places.

In the Old Cellar the guests of the city will get acquainted with the production technologies and tasting of the best Berega wines, pleasantly intoxicating with their magical taste and aroma. The Gavrilchenko winemaking family uses traditional technologies to produce vintage dry wines from various local grape varieties: Zengo, Cuvee, Limberger, Muller-Thurgau, Muscat Ottonel, Zweigelt and others. Any wine is aged in oak barrels, thanks to which the natural qualities of the grape varieties are preserved and wonderful, healthy and tasty drinks are obtained.

In the ancient town, a real attractions of Ukraine, winemaking was widespread at all times, the ancient traditions of making the drink are maintained even today. And all its guests have a unique opportunity to visit the Old Cellar — a famous attraction of Zakarpattya, feel the incredible atmosphere of this place and make the impressions even more vivid by tasting the local wonderful wines.
