This festival has already become a traditional artistic and cultural event, which is held in Boykivshchyna every 5 years. The founder of the Boykivshchyna Festival is all-Ukrainian society «Boykivshchyna — XXI century».
World Boikiv Festival is a traditional cultural, artistic and scientific event, which aims to revive the traditions and rituals of the ethnographic community of Boiks as part of the Ukrainian people, to promote the development of socio-cultural infrastructure of the town of Turki and settlements of the Carpathian region of Lviv region. The Boiks are an ethnic community of Ukrainians living in western Ukraine and officially considered by the Ukrainian authorities, as well as by Soviet and Ukrainian ethnographers, linguists, and philologists as an ethnographic group of Ukrainians. Part of the ethnic territory of the Boiks is located in Poland, from where they were evicted to the USSR and other regions of Poland during Operation Vistula.
The program provides for artistic, cultural, scientific and even local history events with the participation of both professional and amateur groups. The organizers plan to hold exhibitions and fairs with the works of folk artists, organize literary and scientific competitions and conferences, as well as presentations of local communities of Turkovo district, acquaint the festival guests with the peculiar Boykovo cuisine, etc.
The event will be attended by representatives of boykovo societies and communities from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Poland and other countries of the world.
The main festival events will take place on the singing field of the village of Yavora in Turkivska district, in Turka town — in its central streets and squares, in museums and other cultural institutions.
