Church of the Transfer of the Relics of St. Nicholas

Location: Turka, St. A.Sheptytskyi,8.

Church of the Transfer of the Relics of St. Nicholas The Church of the Transfer of the Relics of St. Nicholas stands on the mountain, near the center. Privilege for its construction and the land under it in the tract «on Lokta» was granted by the landowner Turki Jan Kalinowski in 1750. The church is located in the cemetery, enclosed by an old wall.

The shrine is of the Boykovo type, three-branched, on a stone foundation, covered with three pyramidal tent tops, which are topped with domes. A closed porch — a traditional element for churches in mountainous areas — is attached to the babinets from the west. The figure of the Blessed Virgin Mary, generously decorated with flowers and rosary beads, located on the south side in the corner between the babinets and the nava, also catches the eye. For her they made a special niche with a door, which is upholstered on the inside with a blue-colored cloth. Such things are rarely found on the plain. The walls of the church are upholstered with planks, sloping inward. The building is girdled by a curtain that covers the porch and the sacristy, which is attached to the altar. If you look closely at the top above the babinets, you can see closed rectangular openings in its walls. It seems that through them the sounds from the bell tower, which is placed here, go out. The panorama of Turka, which is clearly visible from here, is truly mesmerizing.
