One of the interesting and unusual sights of Koktebel is Monument to Heroes of the Great Patriotic War — participants of the Kerch-Feodosia landing in Koktebel, an operation that ended in a real tragedy.
This operation was carried out in December 1941 in the initial period of the war to liberate Crimea from fascist invaders, but ended in failure. According to its results, the Germans took about 170 thousand people prisoner, and more than 130 thousand people gave their lives during the operation.
