The ancient town of Mukachevo is very rich in religious buildings, some of them are hundreds of years old, others are still very young. The Cathedral of the Pochaev Icon of the Mother of God is one of the youngest Orthodox churches in the city, but its unusual architecture and beauty attract the attention of all visitors to the city.
The church was erected in 1993 near Ploschad Mira. Closing it from the side of Fedorov Street, the cathedral organically blended into the beautiful architectural ensemble of the main city square, joining with dignity the list of magnificent sacral buildings surrounding it.
The architecture of the cathedral is original and quite unusual, it reminds both ancient Old Russian churches and, at the same time, because of the strictness and simplicity of forms, small modern European temples. Three pear-shaped domes of the cathedral rise above a simple rectangular building, the central one is slightly higher than the side ones, each of the domes is crowned with an Orthodox cross. The facade of the church is decorated in the form of three large oval arches, the central one depicts the story of the apparition of the Mother of God. A low bell tower with a hipped dome, also crowned with a cross, rises to the right not far from the cathedral building.
The Cathedral of the Pochaev Icon of the Mother of God is a cathedral, it houses the cathedra of the Mukachevo Diocese, 
established in 940. Inside the church you can see an unusual poster with the image of the tree of the Christian church, illustrating its development. The ceiling and walls of the church are painted, inside it is spacious, cozy, in the altar there is a throne of the Pochaev Icon of the Mother of God, which is known for its miracle-working power and has been revered by believers since the XVI century.
The architectural ensemble of the cathedral, the belfry and the adjoining territory, only slightly fenced to the left of the entrance to the temple by a low openwork fence of silver color, makes a light, bright and pleasant impression. The Cathedral of the Pochaev Icon of the Mother of God is memorable, even if there are sights of Mukachevo and much older, embodying the most famous sights of Ukraine, but this young amazing temple deserves attention due to its beauty and unusualness.
