The Trufanets Waterfall is one of the Transcarpathian treasures. And this treasure is not hidden from casual and casual eyes. It can be seen by everyone passing along the highway N-09 between the village of Yasinya and the village of Kvasy. And those who see it can’t resist to stop — everyone has a desire to admire this miracle of nature.
Trufanets is named in honor of the right tributary of the Black Tisa River, the bed of which is the source of the waterfall. The Trufanets River originates in the subalpine belt at an altitude of more than 1700 meters above sea level at the foot of the famous Carpathian Mount Bliznica and makes its way almost 3 kilometers to the confluence with the Black Tisa. The waterfall is the last rapids that the river waters cross before flowing into the Tisza, just a few meters after the road under which the waters pass after falling from steep rocky massifs, they unite with the even more powerful and strong stream of the Black Tisa.
The Trufanets Waterfall is located on the southeastern slopes of the Svidovets Ridge 7 kilometers from the village of Kvasy and 2 kilometers from the turn to the highest Ukrainian ski resort Dragobrat. Driving along the highway Yasinya-Rakhiv, it is impossible not to notice it.
Stormy waters descend on high and sharp rocky precipices from the height of 36 meters. Trufanets is the highest natural waterfall in Transcarpathia. Crashing, hitting the angular rocks, crystal clear water foams, creating bizarre water patterns and becoming white like milk, making noise, forming a kind of voice of the waterfall, its mesmerizing, harmonious and even powerful melody. The waterfall is formed by several cascades, presenting an amazing natural picture of extraordinary beauty. Trufanets is often called the most picturesque waterfall in the Ukrainian Carpathians, impressing everyone who is lucky enough to see it.
For a better view at the very foot of the waterfall was built a wooden altanka reminiscent of a fairy-tale forest house, to which the steps lead. All the beauty of Trufanets is fully revealed from this vantage point, which can be reached from the road in just a minute.
Many lakes and rivers, mountains and valleys that attract tourists with their beauty and legends are hidden from prying eyes and you can reach them only by planning your trip in advance and finding out the route. It seems that the Carpathian nature decided to make the Trufanets waterfall one of its business cards — the road, of course, was not always there, but at all times it was in plain sight, presenting a breathtakingly beautiful panorama to the admiring eyes. Undoubtedly, we can speak about Trufanets waterfall as the brightest attraction of Transcarpathia, reflecting how rich, breathtaking and proudly, majestically beautiful the local nature is. Such sights of Ukraine as the Trufanets waterfall are definitely worth seeing.
