Lake VorozheskaLake Vorozheska is considered one of the most beautiful high mountain Carpathian lakes and therefore one of the most popular. Every year many guests of the region make a climb to Svidovets to see with their own eyes this natural beauty, praised by all who have already been here.

The Svidovets mountain range is called the land of alpine meadows and mountain lakes, and Vorozheska is one of the most impressive among them. Interestingly, this name unites two lakes, which are located 15 meters away from each other, and the origin of this name is associated with a local legend.

Lake VorozheskaAccording to the legend, long ago in these marvelous lands lived a mother with two sons. The sons were strong, handsome and kind, helped their mother in the household. But a misfortune happened — they fell in love with the same girl named Marichka. They decided to settle the dispute about who would get the girl’s hand and heart by means of a competition: whoever swims across the mountain lake faster will marry Marichka. When the brothers swam to the middle of the lake, suddenly there was a strong storm, and a big wave covered both brothers, pulling them to the bottom of the lake. When their mother learned of the misfortune, she came running to the lake and, broken with grief, fell on her knees and cried out, sobbing, «Lake, lake, why are you so hostile to me?» The wind picked up: «Enemy, enemy, enemy», the forests above the lake rustled, and since then the lake has been called Vorozheska.

Looking at the quiet water surface of Vorozheska, it is hard to imagine that such a grief could have happened here: everything around breathes silence, tranquility and peace. The landscape of unearthly beauty that opens up to the eye gives the brightest impressions and leaves unforgettable memories.

Lake VorozheskaThe two lakes under the same name Vorozheska are located in the depression of the mountain of the same name at an altitude of 1460 meters above sea level at the very top of the mountain, which rises to the sky at 1731 meters. Often these lakes are called Upper and Lower, and the height difference between them is about 15 meters. The Upper Lake is larger, round in shape with a diameter of almost 100 meters and a depth of up to 4.5 meters, and the Lower Lake has an elongated shape, with a width of about 28 meters and a length of 76 meters, its maximum depth is about 2 meters. Both lakes are fed by mountain streams and their waters are inhabited only by microscopic crustaceans.

The Vorozheska lakes are relics of ancient glaciation, both lakes were formed thousands of years ago on the site of blocks that broke away from glaciers and melted. Nature here has preserved the virgin beauty that these places have had since time immemorial. The purest water of the lakes reflects, like a mirror, the endless blue of the sky, around the picturesque carpet spreads subalpine and alpine vegetation. Vorozheska seems especially picturesque in summer in the morning hours, when the valley is flooded with sunlight and horses graze by the shores of the lake. Such lively, inspiring pictures make tourism in Ukraine on natural attractions so popular — everyone who has been in these parts at least once, strives to feel this unique unity with untouched nature surrounded by incredible mountain scenery again and again. Such an unforgettable experience will pleasantly complement vacation in Yasin, making it even more interesting and unforgettable, leaving a lot of the brightest impressions.
