Dzharylgach National Nature Park is one of the most famous nature reserves in Ukraine, it is visited by all tourists spending their vacations in Azure, Iron Port, Skadovsk and other nearby settlements. What attracts tourists to this place? The merits of this famous landmark of the Black Sea coast are numerous.

The reserve was founded on December 11, 2009, today its territory is 10 thousand hectares. Dzharylgach National Nature Park extends on the territory, the history of which is extremely interesting and rich. This is the spit-island Dzharylgach, which in ancient times, together with the Tendrovskaya spit located north-west of the park, was a place for sports competitions in running. lake part of the park

In those distant times, these places were called «Achilles Run» by the Greeks, they were covered with forests and fields, they were green and quite different from the landscapes that come into view today. But that doesn’t mean that today’s pictures aren’t beautiful! Nowadays every guest of the park is impressed by what he sees here: swampy lowlands, sand dunes, many small lakes, endless beaches — all this adds up to a truly fantastic picture that is forever imprinted in the memory. Dzharylgach charms, mesmerizes with its natural panoramas, which are worth coming here just for their sake. But this is not the only treasure of the reserve.

Jarylgacha National Nature Park was created to protect the many treasures that it is so rich in: in addition to natural complexes, these are historical and cultural sites, local flora and fauna, abundant with rare species of plants and animals. The park is home to 15 species of mammals: the russak hare, wild boar, common fox and others. The reptiles living here include the quack, toad, toadstool, urchin, viper, lizard and others. The most impressive is the ornithological composition of the local fauna — it is 248 species of birds, among which are the rarest pink pelican, bustard, loon, black stork and red-crowned crane, listed in the Red Book of Ukraine and other red-listed species of the world. During the periods of bird migration and wintering on Dzharylgach, up to 150 thousand birds accumulate, among which mainly waterfowl species: for example, up to 7 thousand swans form clusters of swans Sipun and Klikun!

The waters of Dzharylgach and Karkinitsky bays, belonging to the park, are also rich in valuable species of animals listed in the Red Book of Ukraine: grass and stone shrimp, 20 species of crabs, starred sturgeon and sterlet, and among cetaceans there are afalina, porpoise and white-sided dolphin.

The flora of the reserve also abounds with red-listed valuable plants — 11 species of them grow here (4 of them are on the European Red List): Dnieper wattle, swamp sword-grass, goldenrod cicada. In total, 51 endemics and 499 species of vascular plants grow on Dzharylgach.

In addition to natural beauty, flora and fauna, Dzharylgach National Nature Park is interesting for tourists as a great place for beach vacation, excursions to informative places and eco-trails, to the local architectural landmark — lighthouse, built in 1902 by a pupil of the famous Eiffel. Visiting this reserve leaves the most wonderful memories, so every tourist coming on vacation to Lazurnoe, Skadovsk, Zheleznyj Port and other settlements, tends to visit this famous landmark of the Black Sea region with an excursion or on their own, going here by water transport.
