What do jazz connoisseurs and people in love with the town of Skadovsk have in common? Only in May, on the coast of one of the best resorts of Ukraine, you can listen to bright jazz compositions performed by talented musicians from all corners of our country.
Children’s Jazz Festival «Jazz over the Sea», was organized in 2000 by jazz enthusiasts: Beiko V. S. (deputy head of the Skadovskoy district administration), A. Shumeiko (head of the department. Shumeiko (head of jazz. department. Kherson music school), V. Biloshapko (head of the children’s pop and wind orchestra) and a great jazz enthusiast Goryainov A. E. (founder of the PE «AS»).
The main task of the festival is the development and popularization of jazz in Skadovsk and in general in 
Ukraine among the younger generation. Great support in holding the festivals was provided by Skadov district administration (A. Vlasenko), CJSC «Chumak». (Karl Sturen, Matvienko A.B.), the director of the city house of culture Voloshin A.I. (now — chairman of the organizing committee) and also not indifferent businessmen of Skadovsk. Information support was provided by the PE «AS» (A.E. Goryainov).
The first festival was organized under the status of a regional festival, which was attended by jazz bands of the southern region of Ukraine. Every year the geography of the festival expanded. Children’s jazz groups from Kiev, Odessa, Kherson, Krivoy Rog, Minsk, Yuzhny, and from many other cities, which successfully perform on the stage of Skadovskiy district house of culture.
Thanks to the expansion of the geography of participants, since 2003 the children’s festival «Jazz over the Sea» increased its status and became All-Ukrainian. Along with children, students of junior courses of music colleges take part in the festival.
Two evenings of pleasure, two evenings of new acquaintances and meetings with good old friends. A celebration of music, which makes incredibly happy both those who give it and those who receive it as a gift. The main festival center will traditionally be the district house of culture. Its large hall will be filled with the atmosphere of refined rhythm, improvisation and timbre colors.
