When people talk about geysers, they immediately picture hot fountaining springs somewhere in Kamchatka or Iceland. Yes, there are indeed some of the largest, most popular, and often just very spectacular geysers located there. But we should not forget that, for example, hot mineral springs are the basis of treatment at the same popular resort of Karlovy Vary. And in general, there are not so few of them scattered across Europe.

Did you know that the post-Soviet space can also boast the presence of geysers, no? In order to see it with your own eyes, head to the Kherson region. There has recently been functioning quite popular healing geyser «Goryachiy Klyuch».

By the way, it was found in the early seventies of the twentieth century almost by accident, during geodetic work on the ground in search of gas. And initially the discovery — as many as six thermal springs — not appreciated and simply mothballed. It was only in 1999 that one of them (again by accident!) was rediscovered.

It is not known to whom the first idea to organize bathing and mud wraps on the place of brown, hot, not very pleasant-smelling water flowing from under the ground — but they arranged them! And bathers began to claim that after the procedures they felt an extraordinary surge of strength, and in general, «there was such a pleasant flexibility in the body». The information was taken into account and after that the visit to the miraculously found geyser was quickly commercialized.

However, to call a visit to this place ruinous for the wallet would be ridiculous — the cost of ablution in the wonderful Ukrainian spring is a little more than a dollar per hour. Although, of course, the infrastructure around leaves much to be desired. This is not a world-class spa, though in summer even such an unequipped geyser is visited by hundreds of people a day….

Today’s geyser in the Kherson region is three baths with healing water and mud. In terms of mineral content it is referred to iodine-bromide (not counting lower concentrations of boron, potassium, calcium, etc.). That means it is recommended for thyroid, respiratory, joint, kidney and nervous system diseases. Even for toothache and menopause, they say, helps.

The only people not allowed here are pregnant women and iodine intolerant people. The rest of us are welcome. It is believed that the composition of minerals in this geyser has no analogues in Europe!

The water is brown (if you go for a swim, leave your bikini «couture» at home, you will spoil it without variants), very salty and dense, it pushes to the surface. In the geyser you can burn yourself — as much as 65 ° C, in the pool water temperature is a little less — about 50 ° C. Nearby there are cabins for changing clothes, massage room. It is recommended not to bathe more than 2-3 times a week: still a great load on the body.

fans of mud baths.

In general, if you are not spoiled by luxurious vacations exclusively in multistar hotels and you are not intimidated by rather spartan local conditions — come to Kherson region for good health and excellent mood, try out the healing properties of the unique geyser. And they, as you know, do not depend on the surrounding marble walls — either there is or there is not.
