A visit to the ostrich farm, located on the northern outskirts of the city, can be one of the most impressive events for guests of Khust. Interaction with the tall and funny birds will equally appeal to both children and adults, and the former will be incredibly excited about it.
The first ostrich farm in Transcarpathia was opened in Khust in 2002. Local farmer V. Perets decided to start such an unusual endeavor for Ukraine. At first 6 long-legged guests from Slovakia appeared on the farm, today there are 36 ostriches living here. V. Perets breeds ostriches for sale, but the friendly owner always welcomes tourists and gladly tells guests interesting facts about ostriches, their life and habits.
Funny birds with chicks’ heads, but long and very powerful legs and predatory beaks can not only be admired. All guests of the farm are allowed to feed the birds, which are no less curious to look at tourists with their big black eyes. And the smallest ones can even be stroked. Ostriches are practically omnivorous, and they will be happy to eat both grass, bread,
apples and other simple products.
Another «attraction» of the ostrich farm in Khusta is the opportunity to hold in your hands and take a picture with an ostrich egg, which is 36 times larger than a chicken egg. In addition, ostrich eggs can be purchased here — they are considered healthy and taste identical to chicken eggs. Also on the farm you can admire beautiful and interesting ostrich skin products — they are in great demand among lovers of expensive things.
Such attractions of Transcarpathia as an ostrich farm in Khust certainly add to the region’s exoticism. For children, a trip to the ostrich farm and communication with unusual and very eccentric animals will be remembered for a long time, and, perhaps, will become one of the most vivid memories of childhood. For adults, visiting such attractions of Ukraine will also become a fascinating and fun event.
