Remember Ostap Bender! The unforgettable Great Combinator — the brainchild of Ilf and Petrov, having seen the Great Caucasus Ridge, loudly declared that it had «too much glamor» and wild beauty. If he had been on vacation in the Crimea, he would have undoubtedly given the first epithet to the local mountains, but the Tarkhankutsky Peninsula would have astonished the son of a Turkish-subdued man with its pristine, fierce beauty.
The wildest landscapes on the Tarkhankutsk peninsula are famous for the Dzhangul tract. This is a five-kilometer strip of the Black Sea coast, which is practically not suitable for traditional beach recreation. Dzhangul line was formed as a result of aggressive marine abrasion. Day and night the waves of Pontus Axinskiy beat against the cape Tarkhankut. That is why the local strip of coastline, composed of soft limestone rocks, is constantly sliding into the sea. 
And the coastal rocks, regularly sacrificing their brothers to the Black Sea, have acquired an extremely severe and unapproachable look.
Perfect, canonical and large-scale manifestation of landslide activity in the area of Dzhangul tract became Ternovskaya Balka. About 500 meters of the bank «slid» into the sea, exposing to the world rocks and fossilized remains of organisms of the Mesozoic period. Interestingly, but the sea does not always accept the rocks, in which it had previously gnawed with such ferocity, into its bosom. That is why in the extreme west of the Tarkhankutsk peninsula, right in the sea, there are picturesque fragments of once steep cliffs.
The upper part of the Dzhangul tract is no less original than its border with the Sea Kingdom. It is a steppe, like ulcers, dissected by ravines. Over this untamed landscape the wind carries the smell of herbs — wormwood and thyme, sagebrush and tipchak. 
In the gullies jasmine and blackberry bushes, jasmine and twisted trees of wild pears hide from the wind, which bear their fruits for many birds and small rodents.
In addition to small fauna, the Dzhangul tract has acquired another inhabitant. It is a ghost ship. In 2005 from Yeysk to Turkey was a dry cargo ship «Sirius», registered in the port of Taganrog. It is not known how the ship found itself in Ukrainian waters and hit the rocks-islands of Dzhangul landslide massif. It got a breach and partially sank. The crew was not injured, but the ship remained in captivity at Cape Tarkhankut. Part of the metal was cut off for personal needs of the inhabitants of nearby villages, and part of the stern is still visible at a distance of 30 meters from the shore, tempting divers and other fans of aqualnogo extreme.
Thanks to President Yushchenko, the pristinely beautiful tract of Dzhangul was declared a landscape preserve and included in the national park «Beautiful Harbor». The easiest way to admire the result of the battle between land and sea is for those who are on holiday in Olenevka, a popular gathering place for budget travelers. But, due to the fact that on the territory of the mentioned national park there are the remains of the ancient Greek polis Kalos-Limen and many Scythian burial grounds, this attraction of Crimea began to include in their itineraries photographers of magazines like «National Geographic», esotericists of different caliber and lovers of pristine, untamed, landscapes.
