This amazing lake is considered to be one of the most beautiful among the numerous Carpathian lakes scattered here and there on the picturesque mountain ranges. Brebeneskul is the highest lake in the country, attracting connoisseurs of the beauty of nature from all over Ukraine and abroad. Brebeneskul Lake is located at an altitude of 1801 meters above sea level on the southwestern slope of the Chernogorsk mountain range in a picturesque basin between two mountain peaks — Brebeneskul, rushing up to a height of 2035 meters, and Gutin-Tomanatik height of 2016 meters. The panorama of the lake is breathtakingly beautiful: a deep basin at the foot of the mountain peaks piercing the clouds, in which the greenish surface of crystal clear water glistens. This picture creates a fantastic feeling incomparable to anything else. The panorama of Lake Brebeneskul is called by many as one of the most beautiful places on earth, and the history of its appearance goes back to the distant past of our planet. Brebeneskul is of glacial origin. At the end of the Ice Age, a giant block of ice that broke away from the glacier slowly melted, but did not disappear without a trace, forming a high-mountain lake.
The area of the water mirror of Brebeneskul is slightly more than half a kilometer — 0.61 km, its length is 134 meters, and in width it spreads 28-44 meters. In the deepest places the depth of the lake is about 2.8 meters, but it increases gradually, so many tourists dare to bathe in the purest mineralized water.
Bathing surrounded by subalpine nature, when not all the snow has melted and beautiful bright carpets of blooming blueberries cover the slopes, gives the most vivid and unforgettable impressions! Due to the fact that the water temperature in the lake is not too low (Brebeneskul is also considered one of the warmest high mountain lakes), water procedures can be enjoyed not just for a few seconds, but to get a real pleasure by swimming a few dozen meters.
