Alushta is a beautiful city by the Black Sea with clean sand, water as clear as a tear, unforgettable mountain scenery and a developed entertainment industry. But what to do when you don’t want to go to the beach, and you don’t want to go to the mountains? If you forgot to say that vacation in Alushta is also a great opportunity to enjoy the beauty of many attractions, it’s time to do it now. In this small, cozy city, far from being a metropolis, they are so many that just a glimpse of each will not be enough and two vacations.
And we suggest you to start with one of the best. This is a dacha with a romantic name «Dove». And it is connected with no less romantic love story of Emperor Nicholas II and Princess Alice. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Let’s get to the point.
To find the «Dove» is not difficult at all. It is located in the heart of the city of Alushta. On Lenin Street. The number of the house — twenty.
Today it is a historical and memorial complex. At the beginning of the XIX century this building was the dacha of one tsarist general by the surname Golubev. The building appeared thanks to one insurance company. Yes, back in 1826 there were already such. And at the end of the nineteenth century it was acquired by General Golubev himself.
Now the building of the Dacha Golubevs is quite unremarkable from the look of the structure made of diorite stone, but the historical events that took place in it, gave this place a grandiose fame.
In 1894 it was considered almost the most beautiful building of the whole Alushta. And it was in this year that the meeting of not yet Emperor of the Russian Empire Nicholas II and his love, and in the future wife Alice of Hesse-Darmstadt took place here.
She is better known to everyone under the name Princess Alexandra Feodorovna, which she acquired after her baptism. Straight from the dacha «Golubka» they hurried to Livadia, where Alexander the Third was living out his last days. They had to be in time for the Emperor to give them his blessing. And they were in time — for true love has no boundaries.
You will be reminded of this event by a memorial plaque on the facade of the dacha building, which in 1917 the Bolsheviks ruthlessly tore down and destroyed. But a few years ago it was restored and instead of the torn off plaque it was decided to attach two additional plaques. The first of them states the fact that the head of the Soviet Union himself, the great leader Joseph Stalin, stayed here. He stopped here briefly on his way to Yalta for the Crimean Conference in 1945. The location of the dacha «Golubka» in close proximity to the road Simferopol — Yalta made it Stalin’s «travel lodge».
The second plaque, however, is a commemoration of the first Soviet government on the territory of Crimea. Members of the Republic of Tavrida spent a long time imprisoned in the cellars of this building, after which they were shot near Alushta.
Today the dacha «Golubka» is an unremarkable from the outside, but unique inside, a building with more than a century of history, in which all 18 rooms are housed in the Central Alushta library named after S.N. Sergeyev-Tsensky. Here you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere of tsarist times or feel yourself as the ruler of the USSR Joseph Stalin, or remember your love, for the sake of which you can run with all your might to the other side of the world.
