There are many interesting and fascinating things to see in the fairytale Vorokhta — beautiful natural pictures that mesmerize and enchant all the guests of the village, an ancient church, the atmosphere in which is breathtaking and takes you back several centuries, many old Polish and Austrian manors. Along with the above mentioned treasures of Vorokhta, tourists are also attracted to this small Carpathian village by the ancient bridges built back in the times when it was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
You can see one of the bridges that decorate the architectural appearance of Vorokhta on the approach to the village, if you drive from the direction of Ivano-Frankovsk. This is the largest of the four ancient bridges located in the village — the Old Austrian Bridge. This bridge was built by Italian prisoners in 1895, it connected the two banks of the Prut River in the place where the river has a wide channel, on the bend of the railroad. Because of this landscape, the bridge had to be made very long — its length is 130 meters, and its widest span is 65 meters long.
The Old Austrian Bridge presents a very beautiful, picturesque picture, made of stone, it seems very ancient and even fairy-tale. It is a grandiose structure with many arches, giving it some special solemnity. By type it belongs to the viaduct bridges — so called stone arch bridges, over which the road or railroad track passes. It was a part of the railway connection Ivano-Frankivsk — Jaremche — Vorokhta — Rakhiv until the year 2000, now a new bridge has been built not far from this no longer functional, but a landmark object. This architectural gem of Vorokhta is known far beyond the village, as the Old Austrian Bridge is one of only five such structures in the whole Western Ukraine and one of the oldest and longest stone viaducts in Europe. Many guests of Vorokhta come here to feel the romance of this landmark of the Carpathians, to see with their own eyes one of the most famous bridges in Europe.
Among the ancient stone bridges in Vorokhta, the Old Austrian Bridge is the most famous, but far from being the only one. The village is decorated with three more picturesque bridges, each of which is about a century old. Walking around Vorokhta, it is impossible not to notice them — in a small village they are architectural dominants, decorating its appearance and making it even more impressive and memorable.
