The surroundings of the ancient Hutsul village Vorokhta have been famous for mushroom places since time immemorial. For the first time Mushroom Festival in Vorokhta was held in 2009, since then this fascinating event is held annually, gathering thousands of guests, many of whom come here year after year especially to plunge into the cheerful atmosphere of the mushroom festival.
The Mushroom Festival is an unusual format of the event, which includes a variety of different entertainment. On several open-air stages, festival guests listen to music, taste mushroom dishes in field kitchens, participate in contests, and watch theatrical performances. The festival program includes musical, culinary, exhibition, sports, competition, circus and theater groups.
The musical direction of the festival is jazz music, as well as other musical directions, including ethnic music, performances of Hutsul trembitarii. With the help of music, a special atmosphere is created at the festival, thanks to which one can fully feel the amazing western Ukrainian nature.
Since the festival is primarily a celebration of mushrooms, one of its main events is a mushrooming contest held in the mountains. After the contest and throughout the rest of the festival you can learn how to cook various mushroom dishes at master classes, as well as simply try a variety of dishes prepared with delicious mushrooms collected in the vicinity of Vorokhta. The festival guests are also happy to visit the tea house, which offers authentic Chinese teas, try Hutsul cuisine and enjoy vegetarian dishes.
Another interesting direction of the Mushroom Festival in Vorokhta is the performances of theater and circus groups. Guests are entertained not only with performances, but also with magic tricks, fortune-telling, stilt walkers and jugglers, and spectacular fire shows.
The most active guests of the festival can play mushroom soccer, take part in crossing the Prut, jump with banjo-jumping, jump on a trampoline and walk on a rope. Those who prefer a more relaxing vacation will be interested in visiting fairs, a movie theater, workshops, installations and exhibitions of works by artists and photographers in the art alley.
