Berdyansk is considered one of the most beautiful fountains. Fountain located in front of the Pushkin Monument in the square of the same name» />Berdyansk is considered to be one of the nicest and most hospitable cities in Zaporizhzhya region. It looks favorably against the background of its colleagues — Melitopol, Tokmak and Zaporizhzhya itself, due to its location on the shore of the Azov Sea and a special «cultural field» formed in the city since its foundation. Proof of this is the presence in the city of a luxurious castle in the Norman style, given for eternal use to the Pedagogical University, multifaceted resort economy and fifty monuments of various contents.
Monuments Berdyansk — this is a special topic! Each mayor considered it his duty to install in his subordinate settlement a couple or three new sculptures. For monumentality in Berdyansk never chased. 
The main criterion in choosing the theme of the memorial was political conjuncture, authenticity and originality.So in the city appeared 7 monuments to Lenin, several stone statues of Lieutenant Schmidt, the Horn of Plenty, Stray Dogs and Aunt Liza-samogonchitsa, installed in the abacus of Ionic columns. A special place in the pleiad of Berdyansk statues is given to the Monument to A.S. Pushkin.
It is installed in a small square with the same name, which is one of the final fragments of Lenin Avenue. Whether Pushkin was in Berdyansk is unknown. But given the length of stay of the main Russian poet in these parts, we can assume that the descendant of the arapist Peter the Great stopped by and Novo-Nogaysk. So until 1827 was named the city of Berdyansk.

Why did the monument to Pushkin appear in Berdyansk? In the city live people belonging to a hundred different nationalities. Naturally, that during the Soviet Union their communication took place with the help of the Russian language. Taking into account the fact that it is Alexander Sergeyevich who is considered the creator of modern Russian, his monuments were installed in all settlements of the country, the main way of verbal communication in which served as the «great and mighty».
Be that as it may, but after the war, a monument to Pushkin was erected in the center of a neat square. It is quite large — its height is equal to 7.8 meters. Half of the monument is occupied by the figure of the poet. 
It is made of black-matt basalt. The author of «Eugene Onegin,» leaning carelessly on the column, looks off into the distance. In his right hand the coolest Russian poet holds a scroll with the next poem. The sculpture is mounted on a deliberately simple pedestal — a parallelepiped of pale gray granite. Around there are vases for flowers and benches with forged legs. Such benches once stood on the Moika, opposite the poet’s apartment in St. Petersburg.
The memorial of the Russian troubadour took a worthy place in the list of other attractions of Berdyansk. It became one of the must-see items on the global three-hour tour «By the Monuments of Berdyansk». Many of those who came on vacation in the Azov region, consider this monument to Pushkin the best of those that have survived today in the CIS.
