Ilyinskaya Church is the oldest religious building in Chinadievo, attracting believers and guests of the settlement not only by its beauty, but also by a miraculous relic with a mysterious history. The Greek Catholic Church of St. Elijah was built in a rebuilt Catholic church, erected in the XIV century. The architecture of the original church was Gothic, but as a result of numerous rebuilds, it acquired Classicist, Baroque and Art Nouveau features.
Ilyinskaya Church is the most beautiful example of cult architecture, it delights and inspires with its splendor, surprises with harmony and successful combinations of details and elements belonging to different architectural styles. Onion domes, typical of classical architecture, are combined with Gothic stained-glass windows of round and elongated windows, simple angles and straight lines, typical of Art Nouveau, with gracefully curved Baroque tops of facade elements. The small light church in pinkish-beige tones creates a feeling of spaciousness and light, seems cozy and unusual.
The interiors of the spacious church are no less admired. Semicircular vaults with beautiful paintings in brown-greenish tones, a huge silver-golden five-tier iconostasis and small balconies on its sides, painted with biblical themes — every detail of the interior wants to look at, and contemplation of the skillful work of Transcarpathian masters causes a feeling of warmth, calmness and peace.
Ilinskaya Church, built in the old Catholic church, from ancient times was the spiritual home of the inhabitants of Chinadievo, through the underground tunnels leading from the fortress Chinadievo, the nobility came here for services, but recently the temple has become famous for another reason. Since 2002, a miraculous relic has been kept here.
Almost 10 years ago loggers cut down a 100-year-old beech tree. But they managed to do it only from the third time — the tree did not give in. When the felled tree was cut into logs and began to split them into logs, they found a real miracle. 
One of the parts of the trunk about 80 cm long, which could not be chopped into logs, opened like a book, on both «pages» of which was depicted a large dark-brown cross of perfect proportions. How the image of the cross could have ended up inside the tree remains a mystery. Scientists have suggested that such a sacred «pattern» was created by a fungal formation, but the authenticity of this hypothesis has not been confirmed.
Whatever the story of the appearance of this cross, the parishioners of the church and all who saw it with their own eyes, do not doubt one thing — its miraculousness. After the discovery of one cross was put in a special frame of wood and installed near the altar of Ilyinskaya church, the second was sent to the Orthodox church located nearby. Since then, rumors about the miraculous powers of these two crosses — they soothe the soul and cure diseases — have spread far beyond the village.
