Location: Ivano-Frankivsk, St. Galitska, 4-a

The modern Ivano-Frankivsk Museum of Local Lore is located in the building of the city Ratusha. It was founded in 1940. At that time the museum was located in the house at 7 Galitskaya Street. World War II had a negative impact on the work of the museum, most of the museum exhibits were evacuated, and what remained was looted.

The current Ivano-Frankivsk Museum of Local Lore occupies a leading place in the cultural and educational life of the region. Its funds have more than 120 thousand exhibits. The exposition consists of the following departments: nature, history, folk art, archeology. The museum presents products of artistic woodworking, ceramics, embroidery. Of special interest is the collection of archeological monuments from the times of Kievan Rus and Galicia-Volyn principality. A separate place in the exposition of the museum is occupied by a rich collection of weapons and ancient printed publications. The collection also includes icons of the XVII-XIX centuries.
