Ivano-Frankivsk Art Museum


Location: Ivano-Frankivsk, Sheptytskyi Square, 8

On Maidan Andriy Sheptytskyi, in the building of the Renaissance parish church of the Blessed Virgin Mary there is a treasury of works of sacred art — Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Art Museum. Its composition counts more than 15 thousand works of art. The leading place in the collection of the museum is occupied by unique monuments of Galician icon painting and Baroque sculpture, works of famous artists G. Trush, J. Petrak, J. Pankiewicz, O. Kulchytska, unique works of folk masters of Boykivshchyna, Hutsulshchyna, Pokuttia. There are also presented the works of Austrian, Polish, Italian and German masters of XVIII-XX centuries.

The museum has a large collection of modern foreign graphics, donated at an international exhibition. The richest part of the collection is exhibited for inspection: icon painting of the Pre-Carpathian region of the XV-XIX century, works of baroque plastic art by outstanding artists G. Pinzel, M. Polestovsky, T. Gudder, old church books, paintings by the Unterberg brothers. Excursions on the history of sacred art of Galicia are organized especially for visitors of the art museum.
