The small village of Polyana, lost among the mountain peaks, has a very remarkable fate — at the beginning of the XX century it became famous all over Europe as one of the best health resorts. Today this fame has waned, but it is for the best — now at the balneological resort Polyana you can relax in peace, and at the same time enjoy all the benefits of recreation in picturesque places, to which nature has made a priceless gift — healing mineral springs. Not many people know about the wonderful Polyana resort, but those who have come here once are sure to return many more times.
Medicinal springs with mineral water in the vicinity of Polyana were discovered in the XIX century. The discovered «kvass» waters (so in Transcarpathia they call waters containing natural carbon dioxide) began to be used for drinking and for health-improving procedures — healing baths. Polyansky wooden baths with 20 bathing cabins and 40 houses were built on the bank of the Malaya Pini in 1868. And from 1842 to 1911 mineral waters of Polyana, participating in various exhibitions and competitions, won many awards, in 21 of them were recognized as one of the best mineral waters in Central Europe.
In 1946 on the place of the baths destroyed by fire in 1907 was built sanatorium Polyana, and in 1965 in the village appeared another sanatorium — Solnechnoe Zakarpattya. Nowadays there are several modern sanatoriums in the vicinity of Polyana.
Today, mineral waters are bottled in Polyana by the Globus company, which supplies Polyana Kvasova and Polyana Kupel waters throughout the country and abroad. Mineral waters poured from Polyana’s springs still win prestigious awards, but the most important recommendations and evidence of their effectiveness have always been good reviews from vacationers.
The mineral waters of Polyana are carbonic boric medium-mineralized hydrocarbonate-sodium, with a high content of boron and sodium hydrogen carbonate. They are effective in the treatment of many gastrointestinal diseases, liver disease, diabetes mellitus, peptic ulcer disease, metabolic disorders, hyperacidity, various disorders, obesity, infectious diseases and many others.
