1996 — in order to realize the creative potential of students the director of the school — Anna Matveeva founded International Festival of Children’s Creativity «Zolotiy Leleka».
A fabulous, legendary bird with golden wings, an ancient symbol of peace, happiness, prosperity, children’s laughter and joy for many years flies to the Ukrainian land in the Northern Black Sea coast and gives all of us hope for a happy future, faith in their strength and love for life and their Ukraine.
The Black Sea steppes and the infinity of sea expanses merge in Mykolaivshchyna into state symbols defined by nature.
The organizers of the festival are: All-Ukrainian Women’s People’s Democratic Association «Action», experimental educational institution of all-Ukrainian level «Academy of Children’s Creativity» in Mykolaiv with the assistance of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and under the patronage of Lyudmila Suprun.
One of the natural directions of the festival’s work is direct assistance to children who are socially unprotected. This is the creation of conditions for the realization of their abilities and gifts, social adaptation to modern life, free formation of communicative-motivational, positive models of life activity, involvement in the treasuries of national and world culture, immersion in the atmosphere of creativity, inspiration and empathy, generating 
feeling of complicity in the life of the whole planet, direction to the achievements of national culture and art.
Within the framework of the festival there were qualifying rounds in almost all regional centers of Ukraine, where the winners were awarded free vouchers to the International Children’s Festival.
The Grand Prix of the festival — a statuette of «Golden Stork», diplomas and prizes are waiting for the winners. The organizers have developed a meaningful recreation program.
For the period of its existence, taking into account the regional qualifying rounds, the festival 
gave several tens of thousands of participants the joy of communication, the opportunity to realize their abilities and talents, faith in the future and the right to creativity. It has discovered many talents and gifts, which in the future can become the jewelry of culture and art of the people of Ukraine.
There is a long-standing Ukrainian legend — storks bring children into the family. We really want every family to have beautiful, happy, creatively gifted children and this is what the festival «Zolotiy Leleka» promotes. It helps to reveal all the most important, the most important, the most hidden talents of each child.
The first participants of this festival today are already over 20 years old, but it was the festival that allowed them to determine their place and role in life, to find a job, 
which will allow them to treat their lives and the lives of their loved ones with all their hearts.
And we know for sure: each of those who passed through this festival will never remain indifferent neither to their own fate, nor to other people’s grief, nor to the fate of their country. The People’s Democratic Party does everything possible and dependent on it to make such festivals and creative contests take place in Ukraine. Since 1998 the People’s Democratic Party has been supporting this festival. Why? — The answer is very simple: we want happy people to live in Ukraine!
