Winter holidays in Lviv opens the Christmas Fair, which will operate from December 12, 2013 to January 14, 2014 on Svobody Avenue and on the western side of Market Square. Masters of folk crafts and art products will offer the city residents and its guests a wide range of Christmas souvenirs, metal and ceramic products, folk embroidery and pysanky, author’s works of artists. Restaurateurs and confectioners will invite visitors to enjoy traditional treats: dumplings, pampushki, hot chocolate and other delicious products. All participants and guests of the fair will enjoy a large festive program, fun activities in the style of the best Ukrainian traditions.
On December 19 Lviv residents solemnly celebrate one of the most popular holidays in Western Ukraine — St. Nicholas Day and the opening of the New Year’s tree. In the city center and in the Museum of Folk Architecture and Life «Shevchenkivsky Gai» will be held a lot of fun events, children’s contests with gifts for the winners, traditional Ukrainian carols will be played, meetings with St. Nicholas will be held.
December 21 — 22 will be held a campaign «Weekend in Lviv at half price», timed to St. Nicholas Day, during which hotels, restaurants, cafes, beauty salons and other service areas will offer their visitors services at a 50% discount.
On New Year’s Eve, fans of fun and amusing adventures are invited to take part in various entertainment contests in the central part of the city and to celebrate the New Year 2014 with a glass of champagne to the sound of the main clock at the Town Hall.
Travel agencies have developed exciting New Year’s tours and thematic excursions, including «Streets of Medieval Lviv», «Lviv of the Austrian Crown Period», «The city with the aroma of coffee, as well as…», «Legends of the Underground City» and many others. The city hospitably invites schoolchildren to spend New Year and Christmas holidays in the traditional Ukrainian style.
Since January 6 Lviv celebrates Christmas. At this time there will be Christmas concerts, contests, creches, festivals.
