One of the brightest natural treasures of Maniava is Maniava Waterfall, the highest waterfall of the Ukrainian Carpathians and certainly one of the most picturesque. For all connoisseurs of majestic natural landscapes, a trip to this attraction of the village will be an interesting experience, which will leave a lot of the most positive impressions.
The waterfall is located 7 km from the center of Manjava village above its calling card, another Carpathian attraction — Manjava Skete in a picturesque tract in a spruce forest. The path to the waterfall passes through a dense ancient forest, which not only inspires with its fairy-tale beauty, but also presents each guest with its gifts — in summer and fall you can pick blueberries, strawberries, mushrooms and other delicious gifts of nature. The road leads winding paths, winding and revealing one beautiful landscape after another, but the most amazing sight awaits at the end of the way — Manjavskiy waterfall suddenly appears in all its majesty and stormy temper. If you go to it by the second road — along the bed of the Manjavka River, you can see quite different, but no less impressive scenery — the river valley for two hundred meters to the waterfall has the appearance of a canyon, the height of the walls of which is up to 20 meters.
The height of Manyavka waterfall reaches, according to various sources, from 14 to 20 meters, but one thing is undeniable — it is the highest waterfall in the Ukrainian Carpathians. It is the Manyavka River, making its way down from a high cliff. Today, this waterfall is listed as a hydrological monument of nature and is known far beyond the boundaries of Manyava, to see it, tourists from all over the country and even foreign guests come here. Not far from the big one there are small waterfalls, where everyone can swim in summer, and pavilions where you can relax after your journey.
You can admire the waterfall both from below, contemplating how the turbulent waters fall from a great height, foaming and bubbling, crashing on the sharp rocky ledges of the cliff, and from above. There are small paths leading from the top of the falls to the bottom. The power of the descending stream charges with amazing energy and leaves unforgettable impressions. Not without reason it is considered one of the most picturesque Carpathian waterfalls — this picture is certainly worth seeing with your own eyes. At the place of its fall, the waters of Maniavka form a small lake, in the cold waters of which many people who come here to see this natural attraction seek to bathe.
The fact is that local legends are connected with the Manyavka waterfall. According to legends, its waters rejuvenate all those who bathe in them, and there is a reason for that — once upon a time in ancient times there was a temple of pagan gods-patrons of youth. According to another legend, at night here you can hear the magical singing of water nymphs, who live in a deep gorge between sloping rocks, from where the water falls from a height. However, all those who go to their singing will face imminent doom, so the locals always warn visitors not to stay near the waterfall at night.
Be that as it may, Manyavsky waterfall is a place that really impresses not only with its natural beauty, majesty, power, but also with some mystery and amazing atmosphere. To be in such a place will be interesting to everyone who is partial to beautiful and mysterious corners of nature, so staying at holiday in Manjava be sure to visit this famous attraction of Ukraine.
