The history of Novaya Zburievka is so curious that it seems as if we are talking about a cool European resort and not about one of the villages of Golopristansky district of Kherson region. The territory where this settlement is located was inhabited back in the Bronze Age. In addition to the burials of this period, on the left bank of the Dnieper estuary were found traces of settlements and treasures left by the inhabitants of Olbia, the Bosporan Kingdom, the Golden Horde and the Ottoman Sultanate. In XVII-XVIII centuries Zaporozhian Cossacks settled here. They built an observation post and controlled salt extraction from the nearby Zburievsky estuary.
During the Russo-Turkish war a fortification was equipped here, and after the campaign many soldiers stayed at the place of service. Cossacks and Russian soldiers were joined in 1781 by state peasants from Kursk viceroyalty. All these Orthodox people were mainly engaged in agriculture — sowing wheat, millet, hemp, chumakovanie — mining in the Crimea and selling salt at the bazaar in Golaya Prystan, as well as fishing.
They lived amicably, the village was growing rich, so it is not surprising that the Zburiev community built a church that was not inferior to other sacral buildings in the capital.
So, the church of the village of Novaya Zburievka was dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. It was built for a long time, collecting funds all over the world. Only in 1869 people were able to gather for service in the new church. It is a rather large stone building, made in a pseudo-classical style.
The entrance to the temple does not have a porch, suitable for begging beggars. The entrance continues the narthex, which is similar to ancient Greek temples and is decorated with four pseudo-columns. The middle part of the Church of the Assumption, placed on a high basement, has a typical for Orthodox churches the shape of a cross. Above it rises an octagonal light drum. A faceted dome topped with a four-pointed cross is set on it.

Next to the body of the church is the refectory covered with a double-pitched roof. It is adjoined by a bell tower, whose height does not exceed the height of the head and the only dome. All the windows of the temple are in the same style — narrow, high, rounded at the top. The building itself is painted in white color. The roof and the dome are covered with a light silver-colored plaque. On the perimeter, of all the known types of friezes — rim, runner, city belt, tongues and breadcrumbs, unknown builders have brought out the last one. The breadcrumbs are small protrusions above the cornice, having a rectangular shape and forming an interrupted, dashed-dotted row.
Visiting the Black Sea region, you will see that the Dormition Church of the village of Novaya Zburievka least of all resembles a village temple. There is no building of such beauty neither in Kherson, nor in Skadovsk, nor in Azure. It is easier to imagine such a temple on a square in Milan, Berlin or Copenhagen.
