In Simferopol gathered journalists from all corners of Ukraine and presented them information that the territory of the park named after Yuri Gagarin will be subjected to serious reconstruction. Such an event was held by the USAID Public-Private Partnership Development Program and the Association of Ukrainian Cities.
«We have a wonderful place — Gagarin Park, with an area exceeding thirty hectares. Unfortunately, at the moment it is in extremely poor condition. Now we are engaged in negotiations to put it in order. There are serious intentions to make there a large zoo with giraffes, elephants and other exotic animals, «- said the mayor of Simferopol. He also noted that the work on beautification will not be limited only to the territory of the park, it is planned to plant greenery and put in order as well as circular road areas throughout the Crimea.
What exactly is planned to do in Gagarin Park? Head of the Department of Culture of the City Council Aurika Dribnaya told the audience that in addition to landscaping plan to build new cafes, open areas, clean the pond, install new attractions and piers on the embankment. And, of course, the most important thing is to build a zoo with rare and even exotic animals. The zoo will be located on the territory of 1 hectare of land and will be a free space without any cages. Plans are plans, but at the moment the question of investing such a large project remains unresolved, because the city council will not be able to solve all the financial issues on its own. Also, it is important that the authorities plan to do all kinds of reconstruction only with the permission of city residents, namely, before the implementation of any new changes will be held voting to avoid a crowd of disgruntled people who may consider something done against their will. Also, in the park they plan to make a «health path», but which will be held numerous marathons in support of sports activities among the population.
Of course, now all this sounds only at the level of vague sketches, but let’s hope that the city authorities of Simferopol will succeed, because there is a serious lack of such parks in Ukraine.
