In the first winter month of 2012 guests of the resort «Bukovel» expect a spectacular event. On December 22, the International Snowboard Day will be held at this ski resort, which is deservedly famous among those who love winter sports as one of the best places for active recreation in Ukraine.
Within the framework of the holiday on the 2A piste snowboarders — professionals, less prepared fans of this sport and children will take part in giant slalom competitions. Jibbing masters will demonstrate their skills in competitions to be held on the same track.
The organizer of this spectacular action is Bukovel Ski School. Teachers of this sports school have been helping supporters of active recreation to master both snowboarding and alpine skiing for more than a decade. According to the information on the official website of Bukovel resort, the prize awaiting the winner of the competition is one thousand hryvnias.
The Bukovel resort complex, the construction of which was started in 2001, has already received just under 200 thousand guests three years later. This place of rest is characterized by a developed infrastructure, which includes multi-storey parking lots, an additional access road and a hotel complex. For those who could not settle in the resort’s hotel, there are comfortable private hotels in the surrounding villages. «Bukovel» was originally designed as a ski resort. For the time that has passed since the beginning of the construction of this complex, ideal conditions for recreation and sports have been created in it. Thanks to the mineral springs found on the territory of the resort, guests of «Bukovel» have recently been able to use the services of the balneological and treatment center.
About 60 kilometers of ski slopes located on the slopes of the surrounding mountains await the admirers of active recreation in «Bukovel». According to experts, most of these slopes are quite suitable for those whose level of skiing training does not exceed the average. The slopes have snow cannons to extend the sports season and artificial lighting. Good elevators and thorough preparation of the slopes make this resort a place that attracts in the winter season those who prefer to relax without parting with snowboard or alpine skis. Comparing this place with similar Slovak and Polish resorts, experts note that Ukrainian «Bukovel» surpasses a number of foreign competitors in terms of comfort.
