New route in the Golden Ring of Slobozhanshchina

It became known in the beginning of July that one more tourist route should appear in the «Golden Ring of Slobozhanshchina» (there are five approved routes for today). Denis Darmostuk, director of the tourist information center in Kharkiv region, reported this news. The object to be added to the attractions of Kharkiv is the Izyum Museum of Local Lore.

This idea did not arise suddenly. According to Denis Darmostuk, the center actively studied the tourist potential of the city of Izyum and Izyum district, on the territory of which archeological excavations have been conducted for a long time. Besides excavations, numerous monuments and museums of Izyum are also interesting for tourists. The most popular among them is the Museum of Local Lore, which presents a large number of artifacts, both ethnographic and archaeological.

Every day the museum is visited by more and more tourists, partly because Izyum is on the way to Slavyanogorsk, and Kharkiv citizens who go there do not miss the opportunity to visit the museum expositions. For them and for all other tourists, whose route passes through Izyum, it is planned to make photo and video copies of the findings made during the excavations in Tsareborisovsk fortress, and on their basis to create new expositions, as well as to replenish the existing ones. Denis Darmostuk is absolutely sure that the new route will be highly popular with tourists.

A few words about the excavations themselves. The fortress, on the territory of which excavations are carried out, has been preserved as it was seen by Tsar Boris Godunov himself, on whose order the voivods erected the town of Tsareborisov, which became an important fortress. Today the village of Stary Oskol is located on this place. The fortress burned twice and was built as many times, so there are objects found here that have different ethnicity. For nine years of excavations archaeologists have learned many more interesting facts about the history of the fortress and the life of its inhabitants. About a thousand finds have been made: jewelry, weapons, household items, the most numerous of them are coins. During this year’s excavations, which have been going on since the beginning of summer, more than three hundred more interesting artifacts of the XVII century were found.

The tourist-information center, which will be opened in the library of Kamenka village, should also contribute to the expansion and improvement of tourist infrastructure of Izyum rayon.
