Employees of the Ministry of Infrastructure announced the results of the work of Ukrainian airports for the period from the beginning of 2013 to September inclusive. According to their data, 11.6 million air passengers used the services of airports during this period. A comparison with the same period last year shows a 5.2 percent increase in passenger traffic.
Most of the air traffic, about 98%, was served by the following airports: Zhulyany, Boryspil, Lviv, Kharkiv, Odessa, Simferopol, Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk.
All of these airports have seen an increase in passenger traffic over the period. The largest increase in the number of passengers over the past 9 months since the beginning of the year was achieved by the International Airport «Kyiv», in Zhulyany the last year’s figures were increased by 2.4 times.
Over the past months there was a steady trend of passenger traffic recovery at Boryspil airport, after the traffic at Boryspil decreased by 10.5% due to the collapse of AeroSvit. Due to the fact that the base airline UIA increased the number of traffic by 63.2%, more and more passengers can buy tickets on the airplane of this airline. Dnepropetrovsk airport is somewhat slower in increasing the volume of passenger air transportation. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, among the eight airports listed, it has the lowest growth in the number of air passengers — 2.2%.
At the other leaders of air transportation of Ukraine for 9 months since the beginning of the year the flow of passengers on international and domestic airlines increased by:
-25.2% — at Lviv airport,
-20.0% — at Kharkiv airport,
-18.6% — at Odessa airport,
-7.4% — at Simferopol airport,
-7.3% — at Donetsk airport.
